We will then drive to the city of Fez and, depending on the time we arrive, we will tour the new or old Medina of Fez. We will have dinner and spend the night in a riad or hotel in the surroundings.
Fez, one of the oldest imperial capitals in the world, was built in 808 as the first political, religious and cultural capital, and after breakfast you will meet our local guide for a full day tour. Start the visit at the Golden Gates of the Royal Palace. Later, we will have a bird's eye view of the wall of an ancient medina from a nearby viewpoint. Afterwards, we will set off on foot to encounter a plethora of repulsive sensations. We will visit several places of worship, such as mosques and madrassas, before reaching the tanners' quarter. We will continue our tour and stop at a community of artists, without leaving you a break for lunch. Fez has deservedly earned its reputation as the "city of artisans" thanks to the knowledge its inhabitants brought with them from Spain and their preservation of Andalusian art and culture. Dine at the hotel/riad and overnight.
On the first day of our 7 day Tour from Fes to Marrakech through the desert, we will pick you up at your hotel or riad around 8:00. To reach Midelt, we will travel through the highlands and cedar forests of the Middle Atlas.
We will pass through Ifrane, a captivating ski resort town. Cedar wood craftsmanship is the specialty of a remarkable craft center in Azrou that is worth a visit. Dinner will be served in Midelt.
Later, we will travel to the Sahara desert of Merzouga, passing the Ziz River, which rises in the eastern High Atlas and flows for 280 kilometers, carving its way through limestone rocks and creating magnificent gorges, with a flow ten times greater during floods.
The village of Merzouga, known internationally as the Merzouga Dunes, is located 50 kilometers south of the Erfoud dunes. The natural attraction is easily accessible and offers an extraordinary and moving experience.
You will ride a camel like a Touareg into the magnificent dunes of Erg Chebbi, where you will set up a makeshift camp for the night. You will dine on a traditional Berber feast and spend the night in a nomadic camel yurt.
After enjoying our breakfast, we will set off to explore the area. Our first stop will be the village of Khamlia, also known as the Gnaoua Village, where descendants of Sudanese slaves reside. We will have the opportunity to spend time with the locals, learning about their culture and experiencing the captivating rhythms of Gnaoua music. Before returning to Merzouga, we will enjoy a delicious lunch in the village.
In the afternoon, we will embark on a camel ride, venturing deep into the Sahara Desert. As we traverse the mesmerizing sand dunes, we will witness the breathtaking reflections of the setting sun and marvel at the celestial display of stars at night. Accompanied by the rhythmic beats of the Berber drum, we will arrive at our destination: a luxurious desert camp. There we will delight in a delicious dinner and spend a peaceful night immersed in the enchanting desert atmosphere.
Today begins our adventure from Merzouga to Rissani. It was once a trading center, where caravans gathered from all over. Tinghir, the next town on our itinerary, is home to some beautiful oases. We will resume our journey in the steep and narrow Todra Gorges in Morocco, where we left off. Here you can stroll along the beautiful Todra River. We will leave the Todra Gorges and head to the city of Ouarzazate. Due to the large number of Hollywood movies produced there (including Lawrence of Arabia, Gladiator and The Mummy), the area has acquired the nickname "Hollywood of Africa". After admiring the Kasbah of Taourirt, you will spend the night in Ouarzazate in a hotel or riad.
After breakfast at your accommodation. The trip to Marrakech begins with a departure from Ouarzazate. Today's program includes a visit to the famous Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1986. This majestic Kasbah has been used in several movies, such as "Gladiator", "Obelix", "The Mummy", "The Jewel of the Nile", and many more!
The trip continues with a visit to the Kasbah of Telouet. We will then head to Marrakech via the highest pass in Morocco, Tizi N'Tichka (2260 meters high). We will stop to photograph Berber settlements and enjoy breathtaking panoramic views from the road. We will arrive in Marrakech around 18.00 and spend the night in a riad or hotel.
